Fal Allen brings decades of brewing expertise and passion to Napali Brewing Company in Wailua, Kauai. His brewing journey began in 1988 at Red Hook Brewery in Seattle, WA. By 1990, he took the helm as Head Brewer at Pike Place Brewery, a position he held for nine years. In 1999, Fal’s contributions to the craft beer industry were recognized when he received the Brewer’s Association’s prestigious Russell Schehrer Award for Innovation and Achievement in Craft Brewing.
Fal’s career spans the globe. From 2000 to 2005, he served as General Manager and Head of Production for Anderson Valley Brewing Company in California. Between 2005 and 2010, he embraced international brewing as Brewmaster and Brand Ambassador for Archipelago Brewing Company in Singapore, where he crafted innovative beers infused with Southeast Asian spices and ingredients.
Returning to Anderson Valley in 2010, Fal led beer development and quality assurance as Brewmaster. In 2023, his journey brought him to Napali Brewing Co., where he continues to innovate and share his love for craft beer on the beautiful island of Kauai.
Fal is also an influential voice in the brewing world. He has spoken at international events on topics ranging from cask-conditioned ales to brewery operations and has judged beer competitions across six continents.
A prolific writer, Fal is the author of Gose: Brewing a Classic German Beer for the Modern Era and co-author of Barley Wine. His articles have been featured in prominent publications like American Brewer, The New Brewer, Zymurgy, and Master Brewer’s Technical Quarterly.
Fal holds degrees from both the University of Hawaii and the Siebel Institute of Brewing Technology. His dedication to craft brewing and his diverse experiences enrich every beer brewed at Napali Brewing Company.
